The honest problem

Why most Indian SEO pricing is hidden — and what that tells you about the market

There are roughly seven Indian agencies fighting for position 1 on "monthly SEO packages India." Six of them hide their prices. The seventh shows four tiers between ₹13,000 and ₹40,000 per month and stops there. Not one of them publishes a complete pricing matrix across services. Not one of them shows the price in USD next to the price in INR. Not one of them tells you whether the number on the page is the number on the proposal.

This is not accident. This is design. The Indian SEO SERP is structurally hostile to pricing transparency, and the buyer pays for that hostility every time they fill in a form to get a quote.

There are three failure modes the SERP rewards:

Failure mode 1 — "Contact us for pricing." Every top page hides prices behind a calculator, a contact form, or a discovery-call CTA. The buyer cannot compare without surrendering their email. The price arrives in a deck customised to the deal — meaning the buyer has no idea whether it's been padded for them specifically. Every other agency runs the same play. The pattern is the product.

Failure mode 2 — Generic "Basic / Pro / Enterprise" tiers. "Basic ₹15,000 — On-page SEO, content writing." "Pro ₹35,000 — Advanced SEO, link building." "Enterprise ₹80,000 — Custom strategy." The buyer cannot match the tier to their actual business. A D2C ecommerce brand on Shopify needs different work than a content publisher on WordPress. A single-location dental clinic needs different work than a 25-outlet QSR chain.

Failure mode 3 — Price-on-website ≠ price-after-discovery-call. The Indian SEO market trains buyers to expect a different number after the first call than the one on the website. Quoted ₹40,000 on the page; ₹95,000 on the proposal. The Ahrefs benchmark says 76% of India-based SEOs charge $1,000 or less per month — true on the website. The same study says 24% charge $2,001-$10,000 — closer to what actually invoices.

The opposite of the hidden-pricing standard is a transparent matrix. Every service. Every tier. Every currency. Every line item. Linked to the methodology behind it. Same number on the page as on the proposal. Here it is.

Compliance

GST + zero-GST export under LUT

Two regimes. Same Pricing Index. Indian clients pay 18% GST on top. International clients pay zero GST under LUT (Letter of Undertaking) export billing.

🇮🇳

Indian clients · GST 18%

  • HSN code: 998313 (online advertising / SEO services)
  • GST rate: 18% added on top of every Pricing Index price
  • ITC eligibility: Yes — if your business is GST-registered, the 18% is recoverable as input credit
  • Invoice format: GST-compliant tax invoice with GSTIN, place of supply, HSN code
  • Example: ₹50,000 retainer + 18% GST = ₹59,000 invoice total
  • Payment methods: UPI, NEFT, RTGS, Razorpay
🌍

International clients · zero-GST under LUT

  • Legal basis: Section 16 IGST Act — export of services qualifies as zero-rated supply
  • LUT (Letter of Undertaking): Filed annually with GST portal; allows export without paying IGST
  • Currency: Invoiced in your currency — USD / GBP / EUR / AUD / CAD — at live FX rate
  • FIRC documentation: Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate provided for your records
  • Tax certificates: Provided on request; procurement teams can fact-check the treatment
  • Payment methods: Stripe, Wise, PayPal, wire transfer

10 questions buyers ask about SEO pricing

Frequently asked

1. Why is the price on this page different from quotes I got from other Indian SEO agencies?

Most Indian SEO agencies hide pricing behind a discovery call and quote a different number than the website. The KD Digital Pricing Index is the contract — every price published here is the same price on the proposal. Screenshot it, email it to us, and the proposal that comes back will match the screenshot.

2. What does ₹35,000 actually buy me — and what does ₹2,00,000 add?

₹35,000 buys a single-service entry tier — TCC Foundation (WordPress) or GBP Single Profile. ₹2,00,000 buys a multi-service or enterprise tier — TCC Headless, Maps Territory, or international Multi-Region. Each tier is published on the specialist methodology page with full line items.

3. Is there a contract lock-in on any tier?

No. Every tier on every service runs month-to-month with 30-day written notice. No 6-month, 12-month or 24-month lock-ins. Cancellation is exit-friendly — final report, schema export, full GA4/GSC/GTM access on hand-over.

4. How does GST work on these prices for Indian clients?

18% GST is added to every Indian invoice under HSN 998313. ITC-eligible if your business is GST-registered. The Pricing Index shows pre-GST numbers; GST is added at invoice. Example: ₹50,000 retainer + 18% GST = ₹59,000 invoice total.

5. How does LUT zero-GST export work for international clients?

Export of services qualifies as zero-rated supply under Section 16 of the IGST Act when receipt is in convertible foreign exchange. KD Digital files the annual LUT with the GST portal. Tax certificates and FIRC documentation provided on request — procurement teams can fact-check the treatment.

6. What payment methods do you accept?

Indian clients: UPI, NEFT, RTGS, Razorpay. International: Stripe, Wise, PayPal, wire. International clients are billed in their currency directly — no FX surprises mid-engagement.

7. Can I combine multiple services across the matrix?

Yes. Most clients combine 2-3 services — e.g., Ecommerce SEO + Off-Page, or WordPress SEO + International. Combined retainers are sum-of-tiers; no bundled discount, no scope dilution.

8. How is INR pricing fair when the work is identical to a US/UK senior consultant?

Cost-basis arbitrage. India operating cost basis is roughly 1/4 of US/UK. Google's algorithm is identical worldwide. The work is identical, the algorithm is identical, the price is different because the operational basis is different. International clients see USD/GBP/EUR/AUD/CAD pricing at the live rate.

9. Are there any hidden fees beyond the monthly retainer?

Setup fees on Maps and GBP tiers are one-time and listed on the page. No bundled tool subscriptions, no surprise add-ons, no kickback discounts on third-party plugins. What you see is what you pay.

10. What's the catch — why so much cheaper than US/UK senior agencies?

India operating cost basis. Same Google algorithm. Same senior consultant work. KD Digital is correctly priced for the global SEO market — Indian operating costs + global delivery quality. Not a discount apology. The feature.
